The Boys Need You

Not for a few hours a week. They need someone willing to live life with them.

For 15 months, Fair Play Chiefs live in the woods alongside boys who need consistency, direction, encouragement, and someone who will keep showing up.

You’ll work together. Eat together. Solve problems together. Face hard days together. Celebrate victories together.

You’ll become part of their everyday lives.

That’s where change happens.

It isn’t easy. Not everyone is willing to do it.

Maybe you are.

Find out what it takes

More Than a Job. A Way of Life.

Being a Chief is different from almost any other opportunity you’ll find.

You don’t come to work for a few hours and go home. You live life with the boys.

You share meals, work, recreation, responsibilities, conversations, frustrations, and successes. You teach by example. You listen. You encourage. You correct. You help boys work through problems rather than run from them.

The woods are part of that experience. Life is simpler. There are fewer distractions. Relationships become more important.

You aren’t there to fix boys.

You’re there to walk beside them as they discover that life can be different.

Do What Only a Few Are Willing to Do.

Most people won’t choose to spend 15 months living in the woods.

They won’t choose discomfort when comfort is available. They won’t choose to live alongside boys who may challenge their patience. They won’t rearrange their lives to invest deeply in someone else.

But a few will.

A few will show up.

A few will stay.

A few will do the hard things.

We’re looking for those few.

You Won’t Do This Alone.

We don’t expect you to arrive knowing how to be a Chief.

Chiefs are developed.

You’ll be surrounded by experienced people who will teach you, coach you, challenge you, encourage you, and walk beside you through the difficult days.

You’ll also serve alongside other young men and women who have chosen to do something uncommon with this season of their lives.

The challenge is real.

So is the community around you.

Help Boys Change. Expect to Change Too.

Change usually doesn’t happen in one dramatic moment.

It happens day after day. Conversation after conversation. Problem after problem.

You’ll help boys develop responsibility, confidence, character, self-control, problem-solving skills, healthy relationships, and hope for their future.

And somewhere along the way, something happens to you too.

Responsibility develops you. Hard days strengthen you. Mistakes humble you. Mentors invest in you. And the boys teach you things about patience, compassion, and leadership that are difficult to learn in a classroom.

You come to help boys grow. Don’t be surprised when you grow right alongside them.

Earn an Associate’s Degree — at No Cost to You.

Your 15 months at Fair Play can also move your education forward.

Qualified Chiefs have the opportunity to work toward an Associate’s degree with tuition covered.

You don’t have to choose between serving, gaining real-world experience, and continuing your education.

You can do all three.

Serve. Learn. Grow.

Are You One of the Few?

You don’t have to be perfect. And you don’t have to arrive as a polished leader.

We’re looking for young men and women who are teachable, dependable, humble, willing to work, ready for a challenge, able to live in community, and willing to commit for 15 months.

You don’t need to arrive as a leader.

You need to arrive willing to become one.
